This afternoon at my second home Target I:

Scooped up several of these cool applique t-shirts. I think they are so cute and in a weird way they remind me of my mom. She went through a severe applique phase during the mid 70s. I might need to listen to some Neil Diamond now.

Actually bought groceries. Things that will really need to be cooked.

Let A. play with a plastic bag. No worries, it was basically a cape.

Put back several of A.'s quick grabs.

Gave in to the Dora Band-Aids.

Stared down the Little Debbie brownies beside the check out counter.

I had no willpower over a few Ritter chocolate bars and a People magazine though. I tend to follow the decorating principle when I buy Ritter bars. Odd numbers, particularly 3, are more pleasing to the eye. And my sweet tooth.

As I type, a supper concoction is IN THE OVEN!! Go ahead, take a moment to collect yourself a bit. It's okay.

How was your day? What do you heart about Target? How do you feel about appliques?

  1. I am laughing so hard right now- I could have written the same post (except I have 3 kiddos to put stuff back for and bribe with baggies to be quiet; and give in to some stuff almost every time- that darn $1 I tell ya). I HEART everything about Target. It too is my second store. I haven't totally caught on to the applique thing yet- maybe I should check it out. The Neil Diamond comment was hilarious (my Dad LOVED Neil- I knew every song growing up). And I am addicted to People magazine. I do wish our Target had groceries though...but wait, then I would probably literally move into Target instead of just visiting there every day (it's a sickness).

  3. Alright, Holly! Sounds like a fun and constructive trip to Target. My A. is kinda like your A. in that she puts stuff in the cart all the time as I'm walking through the store. I do love Target and their quite extensive chocolate aisle. I can't seem to go there without checking that out! LOL

  4. Way to be strong on the Little Debbie snacks. Those things are OF THE DEVIL they are so good.

I haven't met anything I don't love about Target. I could go there every day and just walk the aisles (course I'd find about a million things that I JUST.HAVE.TO.HAVE). But still.

  5. Thanks for the re-enactment of your shopping. Very familiar. Target is a fun stop any time of day or year. How come I always drop an easy $30 - $50 there when I only need a few things?

  6. It's impossible to leave the Dora bandaids behind! Good for you for catching the other add-ins. At times mystery items have made it home with me, and I wonder how I'm not noticing putting something weird up onto the conveyor belt.

  8. I adore TARGET. Luckily for my check book, the nearest one is over an hour away. I can never come out empty handed. Is that possible for me anywhere? I think not. Yes, I remember the applique phase! Especially around Christmas time. One time I sewed a cute Christmas potholder on a sweatshirt and thought I was creative. I even wore it.

  9. Oh yes, the lure of the bullseye. I love that store with all its colorful stuff on the shelves and clean shiny floors. I've spent way too much of my life savings there, let me tell you!

  10. I heart everything à la Target! Especially their dollar section (you can find some unexpected jewels every now and then...)! Oh, and I'm a HUGE advocate of homemade appliqués/patches/imprints. :)

  11. Holly...I am still on vacation from the humid heat here in just plain hot AZ. I hadn't been able to read your past few posts...I am so motivated by your running post's. Each is a motivational rung on the ladder of my want to be a classified runner. You have defined in a sense what that really means...Though this post was about Target and what I heart there (mostly...there is usually this very small hidden section between the purses and handbags...and next to the makeup that has great clearance items for women..it is hit and miss but I love to sneak into that isle and look) I had to tell you that you are great motivation for those of us who "aren't runners, but quietly chose to call ourselves so :D)..thanks for that.

  14. I love everything about Target and have to restrain myself from going there too many times a week, it's dangerous.

I'm cracking about the applique shirts reminding you of your mom, and your need to play Neil Diamond now. I can totally relate!

  15. You know I love Target! However this "new" Target in this "new" town is not the greatest and it takes forever for them to stock...BUT there is an AWSOME one about 45 minutes away! Can we say HUGE!!!! I get lost coming and going- HA!
