My Dad, the Hipster...Sort Of

So, I was talking to my dad yesterday about his new project. Seems he is trying to get hip. Sort of. First, he's getting an MP3 player. Yes, that's right, he has progressed from vinyl, to 8-track, to cassette, to CD and now this:

I'm so proud. He's hip. He's planning on putting his 50s bebop and his classic country music on it. Okay, sort of hip. Then he's going to rig it up so that it plays through his speakers on his...

motorcycle. He's hip. Sort of.

We talked about CDs and iTunes, etc. He then wanted to know if his CDs would be okay after he "burned" them or "ripped" them. Yes, my dad said that. I suppressed a giggle and assured him that his bebop will survive. My dad, the hipster. Sort of.

  1. My dad is a motorcycle man, too. He has his speakers rigged for his mp3 player, too. But he's actually gadget guru man and he's the one who tells ME what to buy. But he still listens to his 50's music, too.

  2. Your dad and my dad must be cut from the same mold (except mine isn't cool enough for a Harley yet).

  3. I don't think my dad will ever be hip enough for an mp3 player, let alone a motorcycle. We got him a digital photo album for Christmas, and he's still figuring it out.

Loved his concerns about CD damage!

  4. I'm so glad to hear your Dad is staying "with it". :) I've thought about him so much this past year. Sounds like he is staying busy and active. That's great.

  5. Your dad is a cool dad, He actually used to words ripped and burn?
I don't think my mom knows that you can tun on a TV via remote control, she still uses cassetts (no lie) and a computer? That's out of the question. She once said she's forgotten how to type, that's why she doesn't like computers.

  10. I just can't imagine my dad actually purchasing an IPod. He always gets so flustered with new technology - and he's even an engineer!
