Thank You

Sometime during this day, in 2003, a young woman went into labor, in a maternity hospital in Moscow, Russia. Months before she had made an incredible decision. She would carry this baby to term and place it up for adoption. We do not know her circumstances, but we know her heart. Her heart was full of love for this precious child. She took care of herself and gave birth to a healthy baby girl. She made a wonderful gift for her baby, an opportunity, a future. Her heart was strong. She followed through. Thank you.

What was her story? I wish I knew. I thank her for her sacrifice. I thank her for loving her baby. I thank her for helping us become parents. I thank her for allowing us to give A. a home, a family and a story. Thank you.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord,"plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

  7. I am just so happy that A. came into your lives and you came into hers. God surely knows what everyone needs. Its strange to think that A. was born in Russia, because knowing y'all and knowing her, you would have never known that she wasn't yours right from the beginning. You were all truly meant to be a family. I am so blessed to have you as a friend and for my children to have dear, sweet A. as a friend. What joy you bring to our lives. Happy B-day sweet, sweet A.! We love you!

  9. Happy birthday sweet A. I remember when all this was happening! I can't believe it has already been that long. M & R used to talk about beautiful baby A. Whoever that woman was I am so grateful for her decision. A. is the luckiest little girl ever! I know you feel the same way. God Bless the lady in Russia for blessing you!

  19. Sweet post Holly. It still amazes me that my girl's birth mother kept them to term. I know she must have felt so helpless. Annalise is very blessed to have you as her mum.

  21. What a beautiful post. Thanks for sharing your thoughts about what a gift your A is. I appreciate your honesty in your previous post too. I get irritated when people ask me the "are you done having kids?" too. Just tonight someone asked me. And I think they ask me for totally different reasons (since my oldest has special needs I think they are asking because they would assume I would be crazy to take on more)....it's just plain nobody's business but you, your DH and God. Anyway you make me appreciate my 3 crazy kiddos. And your little girl is lucky to have you as her mom.
