Five for Friday

Welcome to another riveting edition of Five for Friday where I describe five random happenings and loosely try to tie them together. Or just let them stand on their own. WHATever.

Here we go...

1. I have almost completed one actual scrapbook layout. That's right, one, but I'm still rather proud of myself. The fact that it is of Easter LAST YEAR makes me cringe, but I'm trying not to dwell.

2. In an effort to combine WW with actual exercise, A. and I ventured out to the YMCA Tuesday. I tried to walk briskly on an incline without coughing up a lung or passing out. Well, I didn't pass out, but I coughed throughout the experience. Sigh. And cough.

3. After being recently poked by a wire, I have decided I must get new, shall we say, over the shoulder boulder holders (anyone a Beaches fan?). If you have never gone for a proper fitting, PLEASE give it a try. It makes SUCH a difference to be wearing the right size. As Oprah reminds us, a majority of women are wearing the wrong size!! I have been fitted at Nordstrom and at a local lingerie shop, and believe me, it is worth a few moments of possible embarrassment to know your correct size and style. It is also worth the money. It might seem expensive at first thought, but remember how much you wear it. So, I am going to visit Her Room and get a couple of replacements. Aren't you glad I shared all of that?

4. Annelise and I had a little date yesterday. We went to a local community college and saw their production of this...

It was really cute! I kept reminding A. that it was a play, with people in costumes, not a cartoon. She stayed interested through most of the whole 2 hours and enjoyed it. She was a bit concerned that Snoopy was played by a girl and that their costumes were a little different than the cartoons and books. She also surprised me by deciding that Lucy was her favorite and she did not like Sally AT ALL. I think the actress portraying Sally was too loud and harsh and it came across angry. Odd.

In case you didn't know, we love all things Charlie Brown and are raising A. to appreciate the genius of Charles Shultz. Smirk.

5. Last night I played Bunco and actually won a prize! There was a kitchen theme, so we each wore an apron and told its story. It was neat to hear the history of some of the aprons. I wore one that I bought when I was hunting flea markets for vintage tablecloths. One of my crafty goals is to sew aprons someday, since they are so darling and fun. ANYway, somehow I rolled 4 buncos and won the prize for most Buncos. It was a bowl filled with cutie pie kitchen thingies, an apron, kitchen towel and a slow cooker cookbook. Thanks Kim!
Look how cute it is...

Have you had a proper fitting? (You know what I mean.)
If you scrapbook, how far behind are you? (I hope I have company!)
Do you play Bunco?
Who is your favorite Peanuts character?

  1. Holly, I love your blog! I can't believe you didn't wear the apron that I made you for Pink Christmas! (lol!)
Yes, I was fitted last year when all of the sudden, mine were much larger than I remembered! You are correct, it is a great thing to do!
I am about 18 mos behind on my scrapbooking; I am in the process of working on our Disney one because it is fresh on my mind..I will have to backtrack (or just throw them in albums!) on the others!
I have never played Bunco, but would like to if it involves getting goodies!
My favorite Peanuts character is Linus. Gotta love the blanket!

  2. Have you had a proper fitting? No.. and the thought freaks me out. I don't even like my mom in the dressing room with me!

If you scrapbook, how far behind are you? I don't scrapbook..

Do you play Bunco? Yep! And I just love it! We don't do any fun themes or anything.. not sure that my group would get that motivated but we still have a great time and most of the time we just play for money rather than prizes. Either way it works for me and is a great girls night out!

Who is your favorite Peanuts character? Woodstock :o)

  3. I've never played Bunco, but my sister who lives in the greater Houston area is an avid monthly player - is it a south thing? I have been fitted for a bra and thank heavens everyday that I did! I love to scrapbook! I've finished up to the girl's 2nd birthday! Wow, a bit behind! Take care and hope you are doing well HOlly!

  4. NBF. (never been fitted) I'm waiting 'til AFTER my, ahem, surgery. Someday!....

I love Peanuts, too! I love Snoopy the best, but they're all great.

  5. I need to have a proper fitting so badly. My Voldemart specials have become downright painful to wear. I should just bite the bullet and do it.

  6. I'm getting that fitting now! I've been thinking about it for a while...

Love charlie brown & theatre. I like Linus the best.
Scrapbooking..... I'm years & years behind. I've officially quit for now. Someday when I'm in my rocker I'm going to regret it or be glad to have something to do.

I started WW 2 1/2 weeks ago- actually going good so far.

  7. I'm so far behind on my scrapbooks that I think I've officially given up.

I braved a bra fitting last spring and have been very happy with the results.

    Your bunco prize is darling!

  8. You couldn't be further behind in scrapbooking than me - I got a simple "fill these pockets with photos and if you'd like, a cute comment card" album when I was pregnant with my daughter to document my son's first 2 years. My daughter is now 14 months old and there isn't a SINGLE photo in that album! I haven't even had the photos printed yet . . . AGH! Maybe that's a sign that scrapbooking just ISN'T my bag and that I should stick with running and quilting and give the scrapbook to someone who can put it to better use than a space filler in a closet! :) But I so WANTED to scrapbook - some of you gals come up with the most BEAUTIFUL pages and make it look so inviting.

  9. I'm so glad you got to see Charlie Brown! cute show. yes, the girl who played Lucy is a really great actress! she did a nice job here. I we enjoyed Linus and Schroeder too. and Snoopy had those little noises down pretty good!

    such fun!

  10. Never had a proper fitting. Unfortunately for me, when you are so small there isn't a whole lot of guess work in determining my size.

  11. I won at Bunco Thursday night too! My prize was $45 cash. We always use cash, I have never heard of other prizes but love the idea.

    Fun mother daughter date!

I have had 2 bra fittings in he past 10 years - one before kids, one after - and totally agree with you!

  12. I went for my first fitting this past summer. It was mortifying, but really worth it.

Your date with A. looks like a lot of fun, and your bunco prize is just the cutest!

I'd love to hear what you have to say. I try to reply to comments and answer questions within each post so be sure to check back from time to time. Thanks for visiting!
