SPT: What Was I Thinking?

While I normally choose to shop here...

today though, I thought I would kill two birds with one stone (of course, no birds were actually harmed in the making of this SPT) and go to the Not So Happy Face Place.

Where else could I buy bags of, ahem, manure, tomato plants, office type supplies, ahem, feminine products, bottled water and soup?

Annelise and I stopped by after my workout at the Y, so please excuse my sweaty, no-make-up self. I figured we would just blend in. We did.

Here we are getting three bags of, ahem, manure.

I thought I was so smart to try and get everything we needed here. However, they did not have the clipboards I needed for a craft project for church. GRRR. I became more GRRRish as I tried to navigate our cart, which was laden with, ahem, manure, through the crowded aisles.

After finding two--out of 30--check-out lanes open our trip to the Not So Happy Face Place was almost done.
What Was I Thinking??

Be sure to stop by Lelly's Blog to see what others have been thinking.

  1. Hey Holly...the other day I saw some clipboards at Walgreens. I forgot to tell you that yesterday. It might have saved you a trip to the not so happy place...sorry! :(

I love you and A's pic!

  2. What a cute, ahem, post! I avoid the not so happy place at all costs too! It's good to know they sell ahem, manure though.

  3. Well, now you will know better and not make that mistake again! HAH! I hate, no, DESPISE that place.

  4. Every time I go to this unmentionable place I end up feeling the same grrrr... and what was I thinking? It's not that convenient after all! What a great post.

  5. Oh my gosh...what a great post. I'm a target gal also and everytime I venture away to the place with the happy face...my face is more like this :( - totally know the grrrr feeling! I'm private, but I'll share - email me courtneymilius@hotmail.com

  6. I thought it was just the one's by me that only had 2 lanes open out of 30.. I think they should call it the Grrr place to shop...
    Cute pictures though!

  7. Ahem! You are one cute lady (even shopping for manure and wearing no makeup). Thanks for the reminder...I sometimes find myself tempted by the big yellow smile. But am ALWAYS disgusted inside.

  8. I haven't shopped at the not-so-happy-face store in over 3 years and am MUCH happier for it! I couldn't even tell you where the closest one is to us (they're scarce in WA). Hooray for their competitors!

I hope the sunshine you're having (I saw it radiating in your photos!) makes up for the frowns you picked-up at the store. Not everyone is so lucky as to have sunshine regularly just yet.

Oh, and thanks -the card you sent me put a smile on my face! I should be the one thanking YOU, though!

  9. Every time I leave the not-so-happy face store, I think, "What was I thinking?" Could they not open a few more check-out lanes?

  10. Why do we all keep shopping at that not so happy store?!?! I guess I'm a sucker for one stop shopping. The thing that makes me think "what was I thinking shopping here again" is when I look at my receipt and see how many things didn't ring up for the same price that was listed on the shelf. THAT drives me nuts!

  11. Seriously...why do they have so many stinkin' lanes if they're only gonna use half of them at Christmas??? Lame.

  12. I avoid the not-so-happy place at all costs. Have you noticed that people shopping there shuffle like zombies. I would rather make extra stops with all five kids then spend time there!

  13. Oh...I double, no triple dislike greatly the "Smiley face" place!! YUCK!

But it did make a great photo shoot-Ha!

  14. We've all made this mistake so many times. I actually went in there today, but was pleasantly surprised by a decent shopping and check-out experience. It's like 1/100 visits but hooray for today being my 1.

  15. I wonder that same thing every time I leave that place. But then I always go back. I'm a slow learner.

  17. I also avoid the not-so-happy place at all costs. My niece slipped and fell in one of the stores, slipped on ahem, vomit!!!
We now call it the vomit store.

Holly, I rec'd your good mail today. It was such a treat. Thank you so much for thinking of me and of my new found form of exercise. Still s-l-o-w going, but going nonetheless. I'll keep you informed.

  18. Yeah for Target! I do not like the not so happy face place, I do not like it Sam I am. :-) Yet we all go and think, maybe this time. Or maybe we forget. Again, Yeah for Target.

  19. I shop there too, and it isn't that I am frustrated with the items they have, the prices they charge, or the crazy busy it always is, but I really don't like the self serve check outs, or the wait times at the two open cashier lines. I think everyone will sympathize with you.

  20. If we can't stand the place so much why do we still go?
This is what I say as I walk in the door every time I go!
I loved your account of your trip!

  21. I hate the not so happy face place too in my town but the one that is 25 miles north is really nice and well-stocked so I love going up there. But spending the gas money kind of defeats the purpose of saving a buck on a can of Prego. So, Target it is.

  22. every time i stop in, i swear i'm never going back.

  23. i say, at least you went there to buy the manure they sell for gardening, NOT the 12,000 *other* kinds of manure they sell there.

    ahem. grrrr, for sure!

  24. I get grrish every time I visit the not so happy face place and it's all I've got in this new small town of mine. No wonder I've been not so happy faceish lately.

  25. Manure huh! Sounds like a lot of fun. Trips to any store are always stressful when I take my kids and I'm on a mission!

  26. We don't have a Walmart here. I think I am glad for that.

  27. Hi to all you Wallyworld haters!

My Happyfacestore isn't TOO bad. Probably because it is still new and shiny :)

  28. my biggest peeve about Wal-Mart is that it seems like every time I go, I always end up in the line of a disgruntled store employee. Is there any happy cashiers ?

  29. Ahem, I wish I could avoid this place, really, but right now it is the only place to get certain things at certan prices. I love your ahem, very cute!

  30. I guess I'm the only one but I LOVE Walmart. Please don't hate me or never visit my blog again. But I do. I haven't had a bad experience there and I get in and out fast. I even got my boys uniform cloths from there and they have held up better than the ones we got from other stores. I also LOVE target. I think I shop at both stores equally.
