SPT: #14 on the 14th

October's SPT challenge continues this week with a closer look at #14 on my list of tidbits. {Feel free to check out the whole tidbit enchilada conveniently located on my sidebar.}

#14 Thanks to my mom, I acquired a love for reading.

That is true, so very true. She was a serial reader, one book right after the other. Always. She could usually be found attached to one end of our sofa, book in hand and glass bottle of Coca-Cola (oh yes, way back when ) on the table beside her.

This I remember.

This I imitate*.

I'm currently reading A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving. What about you**?

Be sure to visit Lelly's Blog to read all the other #14s.

*Except without a glass bottle of Coke. Do you remember saving the bottles and turning them back in for $$? I am about to bust out with Those Were the Days like Archie and Edith.
**Are you on Goodreads? If not, you should be! Goodreads has been a great resource for discovering different books I might never have heard about otherwise.

  3. I want to know what you thought of that book when you're done. I tried reading it years ago and just couldn't get into it.

  4. I know how much you love to read based on your Goodreads updates! I'm always impressed with your book choices and reviews/ratings.

I also love to read, but am not that fast and I take breaks in between books.

  5. I love to read too! I love to find a great book where I can't even put it down and rushing to get through my daily stuff so I can grab it and get back into it! My daughter has this passion as well!

  6. My day isn't complete if I haven't read for a little bit. I have rediscovered the library and have read books that I would have never chosen before.

  7. You are a very inspiring good reader! So prolific -- I think it's wonderful. And you know little Annelise will surely follow in your footsteps, too.

And, by the way, I noticed Coke in glass bottles at Costco last week.

  9. Books are one of my favorite things. I just finished Brisingr by Christopher Paolini. I was excited, I was bored, I was intrigued, I cheered, I cried and cried, and I couldnt put it down. Books are the best!!

  10. Great #14. I love to read too and I tend to read a book straight through, that's why I can't read that often. I wouldn't get anything else done!

  11. I just started book 4 of Diana Gabaldon's "Outlander" series. I've been reading these straight through to the point that I feel I should read something else for a bit, like eating a cracker between courses.

You are an inspiring reader and I love to see what your next reads are.

  12. I actually like to read. But I don't put it down. I get so involved that I get nothing done. Therefore I seldom read. Wish I took more time to do that.

  15. What a sweet memory and how nice that it rubbed off on you. I love to read too. I'm trying to make myself read 'The Host' but I think I'm Stephenie Meyered out right now so I might have to read something else first.

  16. Fun memory and cute pic. I have to be careful with books or I get into them too much and neglect my family.
