Yeah, But You Should See the Other Guy

Except the Other Guy was our kitchen floor.

Monday night, as I was putting the frozen veggies into the microwave, I heard a crash followed by a blood curdling WAIL. Not good.

A. had been swinging between the kitchen counters, because it's her thing no matter the warnings. Until then. In her words (later), "I slipped and went SPLAT!"

Thankfully it wasn't as bad as it looked or could have been. Towels, ice, hugs, holding, a boiled egg, applesauce followed by sympathy ice cream made her feel better. A dose of children's Motrin before bed helped too.

Just to be sure, the next morning she played hooky from school to go see the dentist.

She thought going to the dentist was one of the coolest things ever. I have to admit that this accident was the spur to actually get us to see the dentist. I know. It was one of those things I had just put off...and off. Plus she's going to lose those baby teeth anyway, right? (KIDDING) (slightly)

The X-rays were clear and she should heal just fine. We'll go back for a check-up in 6 weeks.

As fate would have it, we have not taken The Christmas Card Photo yet. Of course not. So fingers crossed over here for quick healing, or maybe Scott and I could bruise our mouths to match.

Yeah, we'll get right on that...

  2. Awww thanks! I know it could have been much worse--I was so sure when I looked in her mouth she would have a gaping whole where those 2 teeth had been. The dentist said we just have to watch for any discoloration or strange swelling.

  4. Oh my gosh! That looks sooo painful. I'm glad she's okay. (for the most part, you know what I mean.) :) You seem to post a million adorable photos of her...can't you use an older one for your card? And photo shop in a santa hat or something? ;)

  7. Her smile is perfect. And my vote is to take the Christmas photo anyway. That way, you'll have stories to share with her kids about her fat lip. Some of my favorite kid photos of me and my borther are the dressed up ones with the skinned knees and bonks on the head.

  8. Oh dear, that looks painful! I'm glad she didn't seriously damage her teeth. It totally figures that you haven't taken your Christmas card photo yet, that's always the way.

  9. I say use it! It's absolutely adorable. Ashley had a black in her Kindergarten school picture. Something about being under the coloring table with another little girl and who knows! But, I love it. How could your A take a bad pic?

  10. ouch! when I was five I was swinging between the counter and ice machine in my parent's doughnut shop. I too went splat and ended up with stitches in my chin!

glad there isn't too much damage here! and she looks like it hasn't spoiled her spirit any!
