Taking Myself to the Woodshed

I don't know if you've noticed, or if you even care, but I used to talk about running. You know, from time to time.

And then I stopped.

The running and the talking about it.

There have been small resurgences here and there, but with huge gaps in between. Sigh. I'll spare you the whiny excuses, because really, don't you hear enough whining already?

I will toot my own horn a bit to tell you that this week I laced up my running shoes and managed to get in three weekday runs along with four P90X workouts. (TOOT TOOT!)

Let's just relish that a while, shall we? Thankseversomuch.

I still haven't signed up for a marathon, so I don't really know what I'm running for, but I am running. Again. And doing P90X. Again. I'm trying to get back into the groove and make time for exercise. Again. Yes, it's hard to get up early to run, but only for a few days, then it's not so bad.

One thing that I've allowed to be a hindrance is juggling the exercising with the showering/hair drying/flat-ironing/getting myself together thing. I hate fixin' myself up more than once a day, especially the hair do, so it works best if I get my run on/P90X thing done in the morning. This morning I got my run done early then took Annelise to school still in ick mode, though I did blow dry my sweaty hair and spray Bath & Body Sea Cotton body spray, then came home to do Yoga X. So, um...yeah, I try to juggle my exercise around my beauty routine as best I can.

This week I've been happier and have felt slightly more productive. Running is my mood stabilizer.

I'm glad to have it back.


  1. I SO get it. Trying to do it in the morning is best, because the longer I put it off, the more I DON'T want to do it. Yeah you. It really does suck, but we all need to do it. BLA!

  2. Good for you for getting out there to run AND for doing P90X! I have done a whole lot of nothing.

    I think you can run for mood stabilizing benefits and without a race in mind.

  3. i absolutely get the whole showering/hair drying/flat-ironing/getting myself together thing. since i have to do that 6 out of 7 days for work, i make it a point to not have to do it more than once a day. so, for me that means evening workouts/evening showers. air dry the hair. sleep on it. flat iron the next morning. call it good.

    just call it all good. and keep doing it!!

  6. Good for you! I'm supposed to be training for the White Rock Half Marathon up here in December, but I'm having a hard time actually doing so. I have to convince myself every day to exercise, and some days I'm not persuasive. Keep it up!
